  It may seem a little incongruous to have a Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles episode start at a New Year's Eve speakeasy party with a bunch of flappers, but that's exactly what we were treated to tonight. It all seemed so great and special, right up until a fire began and everyone started running for the exit. That sort of thing puts a damper on parties, even New Year's Eve ones.

• 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' heads down Mexico way

  Tonight's episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles started off with so much promise. It began by constructing a single larger story from multiple points of view – we got a little of "Sarah's Story," and then a little of "Cameron's Story," and a little of "John's Story." Eventually, even though they kept throwing up those titles (and adding Ellison and Cromartie to the mix), they'd almost completely abandoned that narrative style, and consequently I'm not even going to start with it in this recap.

  So I wasn’t going to tell you guys this. Yesterday when I was watching Anthony Edward’s return to ER (Thursday at 10 p.m. on NBC), I actually said out loud "Hot diggity!
• Analysis: FOX's January Scheduling Moves Sigh. FOX did it again. On Thursday (Nov. 6) afternoon after most East Coast reporters had left the office, the network sent out a new midseason schedule that basically scrapped everything FOX sold to advertisers in May.
• Sophomore slumps: Long layoffs hurting second-year shows

  The sample size is pretty small, but early returns on the new TV season suggest it's not an especially good time to be a new show, and an even worse one to be a second-year show -- particularly one whose first season was cut short by the writers strike.
• Seriously, 'Grey's Anatomy' is back

  A TV show shouldn’t make you angry. Yet that’s exactly the emotion I experienced while watching the opening minutes of the two hour season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy (Thursday, NBC, 9 p.m.). I won’t give away anything but I will say that I found the scene simply ridiculous.

  We’ve now entered the time of year where every day new DVDs arrive. It is still the epic battle of me vs. the clutter and yes the clutter is still winning. And in case you’re wondering NBC has yet to send out any of their new shows. I’m going to start some sort of vigil. Like it’s Day 36 of NBC DVD Watch ’08. Maybe I’ll do something like not eat dark chocolate until they arrive. It will be difficult but my protest must be heard.
